Mrs. Reed's Biography

  • A Little Bit About Me

I began my teaching career 19 years ago here at AES.  I began teaching first and second grade and made the move to fifth grade 14 years ago.  I made a wonderful decision a few  years ago to work with our fourth graders and I am excited to continue the journey this year!  We will work hard and learn from each other throughout the year.  I am also very lucky to work with such a wonderful and caring group of people.

I spend most of my time outside of school with my very energetic nine year old son.  We play at the park, have picnics along the shore of Lake Michigan, watch the Blackhawks and spend time reading books from the library.  He is starting fourth grade and I just don't where the time has gone.

I enjoy traveling north to Canada with my son and husband to spend time with family.  We enjoy the outdoors and all it has to offer.  I'm getting better at fishing, hiking and completely relaxing. We enjoy watching the wild life each year.  We watch the young eagles as they are learning how to fly, the beavers collecting logs for their dam and the many other small birds and 'critters'.  Two years ago we had an amazing chance to see a wolf walk through the yard at the Reed family farm in Ontario.  It was an absolutely once in a life time experience! This year we missed seeing the wolf but he left his very large foot prints in the driveway.  We had the chance to see the trail of a moose as well.  The animal life is astounding in the northwest Ontario!

These great adventures are only part of what inspires me to find new ways to reach each of my students. I love working with children and watching their eyes light up and their smiles grow as they realize that their hard work has just led them to success on their journey for knowledge.  I look forward to a great year with a phenomenal group of learners!
