Welcome to 8th Grade Titans ELA
Welcome to 8th grade Language Arts with Mrs. Jankiewicz! My goal in Language Arts is to help students find literature that they love and help students grow as readers and writers.
Students will be reading in class on Wednesdays, so please help your student find a book that they love!
Students have a narrative essay due Tuesday, October 15th. Most of the work for this essay will be done in class, but parts may have to be finished at home. Here is our schedule for the essay:
10/8 - Finalizing topic selection, planning and drafting essay
10/9 - Finish drafting essay/independent reading; review rubric
10/10 - Peer editing - students will only be able to peer edit if they have a completed draft
10/11 - PSAT
10/15 - Finalized essay due
My all time favorite book is To Kill a Mockingbird by Harper Lee
Best book I have read recently: The Opposite of Always by Justin Reynolds
My reading goal for the school year is 40 books.
Currently read: 9
Ask your student what his/her goal is and how many books they have read this year!

Grading Policies
Late assignments will be accepted for partial credit.
In my class, assignments are placed into categories according to the categories of Language Arts. An average is taken of the assignments in each category. These averages are then averaged together to determine a final grade.
