Aiyana Ensum ~ Hillcrest
Mary Honegger is on her 9th year teaching music at AES. Before that, she taught music for 7 years at St. Paul of the Cross School in Park Ridge. She has also taught 2nd grade, 3rd grade and Kindergarten in her long teaching career. She received a BS Ed from Northern Illinois University in 1994 and a Masters in Music Ed from Vandercook College of Music in 2005.
Melissa Marchman has been teaching the Dist. 34 for the last 14 years, and overall she has been teaching music students for 29 years. She currently teaches general music to 2nd - 5th grade students at W. C. Petty Elementary. She also teaches chorus and recorder club during the lunch recesses. Ms. Marchman received her Bachelor of Arts in Music Ed. and Mathematics from Eastern Illinois University and her Master of Music Education degree from the University of Northern Colorado. She also has certification in Orff Levels 1 and 2. The students are presented a music curriculum that includes Orff, Kodaly, and Dalcroze methodologies. In her free time, Ms. Marchman is the director of the Chancel Choir at the Antioch United Methodist Church and is the treasurer of the Greater Chicago American Orff-Schulwerk Association.
Carrie Mack is one of the Elementary instrumental music teachers in District 34. This is her 10th year teaching band in the district. In her 14 years of teaching she has taught, Elementary and Middle School band, guitar and piano class as well as K-3rd grade general music. Carrie also works with young musicians as the Youth Music Director at her church as well as giving individual music lessons. Her time away from school is spent with her family of her husband and two children.
Brendan Frank graduated from the University of Illinois in May 2010 with a degree in Instrumental Music Education. He teaches the 7th Grade Band, 8th Grade Band, and 7th & 8th grade Music Technology classes at AUGS. When he’s not at school. Mr. Frank is a freelance guitar player for several Chicago musicians and he works as a fitness trainer at the Real Results Fitness & Performance Center in Grayslake IL.
Cynthia Blachowski ~ Antioch Upper Grade
Brandy Crawford completed her Master of Education from Illinois State University and earned her undergraduate degree in Music Education from Eastern Illinois University. She teaches 2nd-5th grade strings at Oakland Elementary School. Prior to joining District 34, she taught 6th-8th grade band, orchestra, and guitar in Danville, IL. In her free time, she likes to scrapbook, perform in orchestras, cook, and spend time with her family.
Jack Dudley has taught music to students at all levels, from Pre-K through college undergraduate students. He earned his undergraduate and graduate degrees at the University of Illinois, Urbana, with additional studies at Northern Illinois University and the VanderCook College of Music. Prior to joining District 34 in 2004, he taught orchestra in school districts in Illinois, Indiana, and Louisiana. Activities away from music include making music, spending time with his family, and Taekwondo.
Kevin Fogelson ~ Antioch Upper Grade (Website)
‘Practice what you preach, practice what you teach.’
Mr. Fogelson received his Bachelors of Arts and English at Lake Forest College and then received his Master’s in Education at Loyola University of Chicago. Mr. Fogelson continues to freelance as a Graphic Designer and has won various design and art contests throughout the nation.
Ms. Leyman has had a lifelong passion for creativity and the arts. In 1988, she graduated cum laude from the Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising, with a professional designation in Textile Design, where she received an Honorable Mention from the New Jersey Home Apparel Association for her weaving, and the Los Angeles Textile Association awarded her for “Outstanding Textile Design." December 1992, she graduated from California State University at Northridge with a Bachelor’s Degree in Liberal Arts. In 1998, she graduated from National Louis University with a Master’s in the Art of Education.
Ms. Leyman joined the teaching staff of Antioch School District in April of 1998. For five years, she taught 4th grade and 5th grade students at W.C. Petty, and then moved into her current position as the Visual Arts Educator at Antioch Upper Grade School.
