All about Ms. Barnas

Hello! My name is Darcy Barnas and I can't wait to begin the 2022-2023 school year! This is my fifth year teaching 1st grade in Antioch School District 34. Prior to teaching in Antioch, I have taught a variety of different grade levels (K, 1st, 2nd, and 3rd) in nearby school districts. I graduated from Northern Illinois with my Bachelor's in Elementary Education and have a Master's degree from Concordia University in Curriculum and Instruction.

First grade is such a fun age, and I love keeping my students both engaged and enthusiastic about learning. This is a great time to help your child build their foundation and love for learning! I promise you I will do my best to ensure your child has a successful year in first grade. 

I am a big fan of communication and I know throughout the school year, questions or concerns may arise. You are always more than welcome to call the classroom, however for a more immediate response; please email me or message me through our seesaw website.

When I am not teaching, I enjoy spending time with my fiance and his daughter, my nieces and nephew as well as other family & friends. In my free time, I enjoy running, traveling, hiking and trying new places to eat!
