On Tuesday, July 28th, Antioch CCSD 34 announced that the 2020-2021 school year will be started with remote learning. If you have already scheduled your child for a Kindergarten Screening appointment, your scheduled time is still occurring but will take place remotely/virtually.
In the past couple of days, our team at AUGS has begun the process of communicating the plans they have been working on for a virtual graduation ceremony. While we understand this is not the way anyone envisioned the celebration of this important milestone, please know that we are actively doing our best to consider all options and make the best decisions possible. You may not have an 8th grade student impacted by this decision, however, we believe this communication offers some insight into our end-of-year planning as it relates to a variety of traditional activities and celebrations. In the end, we are committed to honoring and recognizing our collective accomplishments, but want to make sure we are doing so in ways that are congruent with the guidance we have received and in coordination with other agencies and organizations, with whom we have been in close contact.
As many of you know, this past week has been Staff/Teacher Appreciation Week. We are incredibly proud of our staff and we spent the week making sure they heard, felt, and knew that. In this current reality we are all navigating, I would like to take the chance to thank you all, too, for your support, partnership, and work in further broadening our definition of who our practicing teachers and educators are. Without notice, professional development, or any say, you have become a critical extension of our profession and a crucial piece to our ability to continue helping our collective students grow, learn, develop, create, accomplish, and achieve.
Kindergarten screening dates scheduled in May have been cancelled due to the Stay-at-Home order because of the COVID-19 school closures. At this time, there are no reschedule dates set. If we are able to reschedule, we will communicate that to you at that time.
I hope this communication finds you healthy, well, and safe. Remember, we are here for you; especially if you or your family are in need. We will continue to send out our weekly Check-In as a way for you to communicate with us, but do not allow that to be the only mechanism of outreach if you are in need.
In this current reality due to the COVID-19 closures, Antioch School District 34’s Summer Learning will be canceled. Extended School Year (ESY) is a part of students’ IEPs and will continue this summer. At this time, students who qualify for Extended School Services will be participating using remote learning.
Antioch School District 34 is committed to continuing to provide support to students during the COVID-19 closure. At this time, D34 will continue providing "Grab-n-Go" lunches through August 6th, 2020.
