• Sorry health lovers,  but we will be hosting Physical Education for the remainder of the school year via remote learning.  I hope that this week is the final week that we have cruddy cold weather and that we can start doing more exercise outdoors.  We still must be safe the virus is not letting up and we still need to be smart and practice social distancing and other measures (i.e.. WASH YOUR HANDS, DON'T touch your face:).

This week each student will track their daily work out and on Friday, students will complete M-F (Wednesday is optional) Google sheet on their workouts.

The 3 areas I am interested include:

Type of exercise, how long you exercised, and what you feel was the intensity of the work out, in other words was it mild (or Easy), moderate (somewhat of a challenge but not too bad), or vigorous (difficult work out).

My goal this week is to get you fantastic examples of other students.  Your goal is to get video and/or pictures taken of you getting 30 minutes at least per day.

It might help you perform better, with proper space, proper attire (clothing and athletic shoes), and a proper attitude meaning that YOU NEED TO TAKE CARE OF THE YOUNG PERSON IN THE MIRROR AND WORKOUT DAILY!  Self-motivation will help you fight of disease, be happy about your physical frame, and help your mental outlook.

Remember it is O.K.. to take Wednesday off if you are sore or tired.  That is an optional day.  However, even stretching like following a yoga routine will help your muscles recover and get in decent condition.

  • Hello everyone!

Glorious day!  We are supposed to get some rain in the next few days, so bundle up and get outside when you can, but this still means #stayhome and stay at least 6' away from others outside of your household.  More and more families are selecting one family member to go out with gloves and masks to do the shopping.  Since my daughter (age 23) works as a critical care nurse, she is our designated shopper.  Do not go to public areas as a tag-a-long.  You are 11/12 years old and you are old enough to safely stay in the car:) or at home.  Again the next 2 weeks the pandemic will be increasing, so stop the spread!  Wash your hands (after changing activities), cover your cough/sneeze, don't touch your face, and sanitize surfaces to keep things clean.  The more people that stay at home, the more time we will have to produce tests, and flatten the curve (reduce number of hospitalized patients).  Like I mentioned in class,  the more we focus on health, the sooner things can get back to normal.  Today you have a work-out and a work sheet (in OTUS/Google Classroom).  Do all your schoolwork and treat your body right!  That means eat healthy foods, exercise, TAKE A SHOWER 2 X'S A DAY, and follow a sleep routine OF 8-10 HOURS per night. Good luck!

  • Hi everyone.  Welcome to Mr. Skoog's eLearning web page.  Starting on 3/30/20, we will have a daily session of health and P.E..  During this hiatus you have a choice.  Do I take care of my body and stay as fit as possible or do I ignore the three aspects of the health triangle?  Hopefully you will all stay committed to getting stronger, allow for some mindfulness training, and find ways to sustain social health without interacting with others that might put you or others in danger.  Make good choices; if you need assistance the best way to communicate is via e-mail at eskoog@antioch34.com.  Your feelings are important, and rest assure; humankind is amazing.  Together, we will persevere.

Additionally, I have always been more interested in your teamness, effort, and attitude as a student.  Regarding health, if you do not understand something it is OK to communicate with others and utilize resources of your choice.  During my e-learning it will not be consider academic dishonesty to use authentic resources. But do your own work, because it will be the best thing for your growth.  As always, get sleep, get exercise, and focus on controlling what you can control.  We will be executing daily activities that you can control.  Have fun, but also have some caution.  Do not over exert to the point of injury or take risky actions with your movements.  If you get hurt, understand your risk of potential health problems may increase if you need to go to a medical facility.

Lastly, take all of your schooling seriously.  These are not sick days, we are in a global pandemic, which means gathering with others can increase your chances of hurting yourself and those you love.  We will get through this if we all stay committed to being smart, sound, and fit.

NOW GO TO YOUR OTUS ACCOUNT AND LOOK FOR TODAY'S LESSON (OR ASSESSMENT!).  ON DAY 1, 3/30/20 YOU ARE GOING TO TAKE HEALTH TEST (ASSESSMENT FILE/YOU HAVE UNTIL FRIDAY:)) AND THEN A BRIEF WORKOUT ON LESSONS.  IF YOU NEED MORE WORKOUTS, CHECK OUT THE BOOKSHELF FOR AN ARRAY OF WORKOUTS!

    Respectfully,

    Mr. Skoog
