Welcome!

My name is Ms. Durnil, and this is my fifth year as a speech-language pathologist at Oakland elementary school. In the spring of 2019, I obtained my Master of Science in speech-language pathology from Illinois State University. I am a two-time Redbird, as I also completed my Bachelor of Science in communication sciences and disorders at ISU. I hold professional licenses with the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA), the Illinois State Board of Education (ISBE), and the Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation (IDFPR). As a lifelong Lake County resident, I am happy to be serving the community that gave me my education.

My passion is communication. Communication is what connects us to each other. This makes my job extremely rewarding; I truly enjoy working with your student on goals that matter! I promise to support your child's speech and language growth so that he or she can find their voice and have the tools to say what they want to say clearly and efficiently. I promise to celebrate your student's successes and to re-strategize when progress seems to stall. I promise to update you and always be just a phone call or email away. I promise to make a difference in your child's communication skills this year.
