Welcome to Physical Education Class!

Hello WC Petty Community!

My name is Mr. Bieniek and I am the Physical Education Teacher at W.C. Petty Elementary School.  This is my first year teaching at W.C. Petty, and I am so excited to be apart of the Bobcat family!  I strive to provide a supportive, empowering, and inclusive environment in our physical education classes where every student can learn, grow, and improve their overall well-being.

Our physical education class focuses on the whole child.  Your child will learn, practice, and develop:

  -  Physical skills and abilities

  -  Cognitive comprehension of concepts and topics surrounding physical activity, health, and overall well-being

  -  Social and emotional skills and confidence to interact with peers, along with the ability to self-refect/assess their actions/behaviors

We will be teaching according to the Illinois Learner Standards for Physical Education. It is our goal to help your child develop the skills and knowledge to be physically active and lead healthy lives.

I ask that your child either wear gym shoes to school or leave an extra pair of gym shoes at school for physical education class.  This request is for your child's safety, as well as for their peers.  Being prepared for class and participating in a safe manner is part of the participation standard.

Lastly, according to our district handbook, any student that is not able to fully participate in physical education class needs to bring a parent note from home EACH day the student is not fully participating.  A parent note will only be accepted for two consecutive days if stated so in the note.  After two days a note is required from your physician stating limitations and when the student is allowed full participation again.  Students not fully participating in P.E. class will be allowed to get fresh air and socialize at recess, but not participate in physical activities.

If you have any questions, concerns, or need to speak with me, please feel free reach out.

Healthy Regards,

Mr. Bieniek
