Mr. Christopher Godsey


My name is Mr. Christopher Godsey. I am a 24 year veteran of Antioch School District 34. I have taught Science at AUGS in 8th grade since 1996. I also coach 3 sports here at Upper Grade-Softball, Wrestling and Track. This year we are implementing a new curriculum in the science department called Amplify. You will be getting more information about the program throughout the year. I look forward to meeting all of you and beginning the new school year.

  • Amplify Science is a program designed by The Lawrence Hall Of Science (University of California Berkley) It is designed to meet the Next Generation Science Standards and also address cross-curriculm standards in Math and ELA. The Units covered in 8th grade are Harnessing Human Energy, Force and Motion, an engineering internship on Force and Motion, Magnetic Fields, Light Waves, The Earth-Moon-and Sun, Natural Selection, an engineering internship on Natural Selection, and Evolutionary History.


    Grades will be given according to our District Wide Grading Criteria: 

    • 20% Practice
    • 40% Formative Assessment
    • 40% Summative Assessment

    For Science that means the following:


    Practice: Warm up activities in Amplify and at the beginning of classtime, and reading/annotation.

    Formative: Labs, exit tickets, analyzing data, and graphing. 

    Summative: Scientific arguments, design proposals, unit tests, and projects.
