  •  Welcome to the Pre-K Program. My name is Ginny Smith. I will be your child’s teacher this year. You may be hearing your child referring to me as Ms. Ginny. This is my tenth year teaching at Antioch School District 34. I have more than 25 years teaching experience with young children. I received my Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education with an approval in Special Education from Southern Illinois University and my Master’s degree in Curriculum and Instruction. I also have my ELL endorsement (English Language Learners). I am very excited to be a member of the Hillcrest Family. I have had the opportunity to meet many of you all at your homes and I am looking forward to a wonderful school year with you and your children.

My classroom aide is Mr. Jason Garcia. The children will be calling him Mr. Jason. He comes to Hillcrest after being an aide at Oakland School. Jason spent the summer working with me in the Extended School Year program for Early Childhood. He is currently taking classes to become a teacher. I am very fortunate to have his expertise and assistance. We will work along with you, as a team, to provide the best possible learning environment for your child.

Please don’t hesitate to contact me with any questions or concerns you may have during this school year. The easiest way to contact me is by e-mail (gsmith@antioch34.com). I check my e-mail several times a day and try to reply the same day. The phone in my classroom doesn’t ring while the children are present. You can leave a message on my phone and I will reply when students are not present. (847-838-8012). If you have an urgent matter it would be most efficient to contact the main office (847-838-8001) and they can put you through to my classroom line if needed.
