TRANSPORTATION CHANGES
If you are planning to pick up your child from school, please send a note with your child in the morning that includes your child's first and last name as well as the teacher's name. If you forget to send this, you can call the Oakland Office @ 847-838-8601.
LUNCH
Lunch fees can be paid online on your child's PowerSchool account.
LIBRARY
The Oakland Library does not "fine" for late materials. Each student is allowed to check out two items from the library at a time. The items are checked out for two weeks. Students are allowed to come into the library any day of the week to exchange a book. Students do not need to wait until their regularly scheduled library visits.
SNACKS
Throughout the district, only fruits and vegetables will be allowed for student snacks.
CLASSROOM BOOKS
Students are welcome to borrow one of our classroom library books at a time, and bring them home.
HOMEWORK
Homework is assigned, but it is meant to be practice of something that the students have already learned. If your child is struggling to complete the homework, please let me know, so I can help. If an assignment is creating major frustration for your child or it is taking too long to complete, feel free to stop working and jot down a note on the homework. Your child and I can practice more and work on it together. Daily reading is stronly encouraged, and probably the most important at home work your child can do (4th graders should read 20-30 minutes a day.) I realize that schedules can be hectic, but please try to allow some time for reading everyday. Please reach out if you have any questions, or you need my help.
