• My Role at Oakland: Reading Interventionist

    ~ My Family ~

I live in Lakemoor with my husband, our two sons, and our two dogs. My oldest, Logan, is 8 and is in 3rd grade. My youngest, Weston, is 6 and is in 1st grade. Both of my boys LOVE superheroes, dinosaurs, and cars. Iron Man, Hulk and Spiderman are their favorites. Our dog, Parker, will be turning 13 this November and this summer we adopted a new puppy, MJ (Mary Jane). My husband is a huge fan of comics and superheroes as well. He works and coaches football, wrestling, and Special Olympics Basketball and Track for Glenbard High School District.  He is also the director of a summer camp.

    ~My Education and Teaching Experience~

I grew up nearby in Ingleside and graduated from Grant High School in Fox Lake. I attended Winona State University in Minnesota for my Bachelor’s degrees in both early childhood and elementary education. Later I attended Concordia University in Chicago for my Master’s degree in reading. I started teaching right out of college at W.C. Petty where I taught 4th grade for 8 years before becoming a reading teacher there. In the fall of 2015, I started working here at Oakland as a reading interventionist. Oakland has become my family and I truly love coming to work here every day!
