Mrs. Tarkowski's Website
Important Note: Remote Learning will begin March 30th. All Reading Intervention students that see me (Mrs. Tarkowski) will receive an e-mail each day with their reading assignment. The assignments will also be posted on my Remote Learning tab. Until then, there are suggested websites listed that students can work on. I hope everyone is doing well and staying healthy!
Hi! My name is Michelle Tarkowski and I am a Reading Intervention teacher here at W.C. Petty. This will be my fourteenth year teaching in Antioch School District 34. I first worked here at W.C. Petty for seven years as a classroom teacher (third and second grade). I then worked at AES as a Reading Specialist for two years. I then came back to Petty as a second grade teacher and now I am an Intervention teacher. I graduated from Augustana College in Rock Island, Illinois, in 2006 with a bachelor’s degree in elementary education. In June of 2009 I completed my Masters Degree in Curriculum and Instruction from National Louis University in Wheeling, Illinois and in 2014 I completed my second Masters’s Degree in Reading and Literacy from Benedictine, University.
I have been married for 9 years to my husband, Mark. We live here in Antioch with our two adorable daughters, Kaylee, 4 1/2, and Carly 2 1/2. On the weekends we enjoy spending time with our families, playing games, doing arts and crafts, and going shopping. In the little spare time I have I enjoy arts and crafts, especially scrapbooking and making cards.
Please feel free to contact me at any time with questions or concerns. Communication and working together are important to a student’s success at school. I’m looking forward to working with all of you this year and developing a love of reading in all students!
