About Me:
Hi! My name is Michelle Tarkowski and I am a Reading Intervention teacher. This will be my 17th year teaching, all in Antioch School District 34. I have been a classroom teacher for 8 years (second and third grade) and this will be my 9th year as an Interventionist. I have previously worked at W.C. Petty and am starting my second year here at Oakland. I graduated from Augustana College in Rock Island, Illinois, in 2006 with a bachelor’s degree in elementary education. In June of 2009 I completed a Masters Degree in Curriculum and Instruction from National Louis University in Wheeling, Illinois. Then in 2014 I completed a Master’s Degree in Reading and Literacy from Benedictine, University and received my Reading Specialist Certification.
I have been married for 12 years to my husband, Mark. We live here in Antioch with our two daughters, Kaylee, 7 (second grade), and Carly, 5, (kindergarten). On the weekends we enjoy spending time with our families, playing games, doing arts and crafts, and going shopping. In my spare time I enjoy arts and crafts, especially making cards, and reading.
