Hello! My name is Kristan Owens, and I am excited to be your child's teacher this year.  This is my 6th year teaching first grade at Hillcrest.  Prior to Hillcrest, I taught First Grade for 5 years and Pre-K for 2 years in Waukegan; as well as Kindergarten for 4 years in a private school.  I received my bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education from Eastern Illinois University in 2004. 

  I enjoy teaching first grade because the kids make a great deal of growth in a year's time.  6 and 7-year-olds are so eager to learn and I love helping to develop that passion for knowledge.

I live in Antioch with my husband Kyle, my 9-year-old daughter Kenzie, my 6-year-old son Kellan, and our 2 dogs.  In my spare time, I enjoy being with my family and friends.  I also love to bake, cook, read, and do some retail therapy! 

I am positive that this school year will be a great one.  I look forward to getting to know and teach your child while making some lasting memories!
